Alcohol Ink

This art belongs to you.

Alcohol inks have this beautiful characteristic of doing whatever the hell they want, and letting you know who's boss.

They're badass.

And I love that about them.

With alcohol inks, you can truly never predict what will come to life, no matter how hard you try.

Their freeing state and wild nature gave me the space to create without needing to fully guide the process.

The creation became a tango between the inks and myself, the intent and the result, the predictable and unpredictable. Our relationship was formed on testing the boundaries of movement, fluidity, contrast, and whatever else we wanted for that piece.

Alcohol inks helped me venture into the unknown and appreciate the collaboration with unpredictability. To live in the colorful grey and to appreciate the beauty of  participating in creating without fully controlling.

Eventually the creation felt too forced, and the paintings seemed too crowded. Their fluidity became congested and had lost its . I needed to take a step back, and felt a need to reconnect to the basics, the fundamentals in shadows in art. Black and white....
